Maire Owens is an Accredited Counsellor at the Southdown Clinic Ltd.
I have a background in Primary Care Counselling short term work and have worked in general medical practice for twelve years alongside my private practice where I work psychotherapeutically with both long and short term clients. I have an interest in Jungian Psychology and have completed a year’s course at the Society of Analytical Psychology (London) exploring Jungian concepts and completed a post qualifying course in Primary Care Counselling at the Tavistock Clinic (London). I see clients in a private and confidential setting where we have an opportunity to explore any difficulties or distress they may be experiencing. By listening attentively, without judgment, I can begin to perceive, from the client’s view point, their difficulties and help them to see things more clearly, possibly from a different perspective. Counselling can be enabling for the client and can bring about positive change and create a greater sense of personal autonomy. Over twelve years in my counselling practice I have gained a wide experience in helping clients with issues which include: - Depression
- Anxiety
- Bereavement & Loss
- Relationship difficulties
- Spirituality
- Eating habits
- Life changing traumas e.g.
