Charmine Rajapakse

Reiki Level 2 Practitioner – MRCGP (2010), MBChB (2005)

From a young age, I have always held the belief that true wisdom lies within. This ideology has underpinned an evolving introspective journey, which has led me here today.

For the past 11 years, I have been working as a GP in the NHS. My career has given me a unique insight into the challenges faced by people from all walks of life, and the growing need for more holistic care. Treating the body is something we do on a regular basis, but I have always been interested in the symbiotic relationship between the body and the mind; I believe that one holds the key to the other.

I first started meditating aged 15 during a challenging period of my life. For me, meditation was a journey of self-discovery. I was fascinated by the awareness I gained by simply sitting down and stilling my mind. The most powerful part of this process was the acceptance and validation of these insights. My true-self. My journey took me from being a depressed teenager to a happy, more confident and sociable girl who started to feel comfortable in her own skin. As my concentration developed further, I started to sense energies on various levels. I went on to learn about chakras (energy centres) and how to achieve energetic balance. I felt empowered, both mentally and physically. During this period, I, who would become unwell on a regular basis, remained free of illness.

My love of energy therapies led me to my first reiki treatment. This powerful and restorative therapy was extremely relaxing and peaceful. It was a wonderful way to bring balance to my busy hectic life.
In more recent years I started deeper introspective work, which involved connecting in with the body to process emotions through free writing. The most powerful transformative aspect of this work was accessing and processing negative core beliefs, which unbeknownst to me, had been governing my life for far too long. Reiki beautifully complemented this process by gently surfacing the aspects that required processing and replenishing my system with high vibrational positive energy. During this time, my chronic physical ailments like IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) eased and the intensity of my gastritis decreased.  Most importantly I was able to make some much needed changes to live a more fulfilling and authentic life.

After experiencing the benefits of reiki personally, I achieved the level of reiki practitioner. I am deeply passionate about sharing this holistic therapy with those who seek balance and energy replenishment to promote well-being.  I believe that the deep introspective work I’ve done, gives me the self-awareness and tools to be a well-grounded vessel for energy to flow.
Having experienced the value of reiki as a powerful aid to the introspective journey, I also hope to provide supportive journaling sessions for those who are interested in learning to ‘tune in to the body’ on a deeper level.
