After a career in insurance I trained as a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist at the Manor House Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (MHCPC). I completed the Certificate in Counselling Skills and then went on to study for the three year Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling & Therapy.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), a widely known and respected professional body. I adhere to the BACP’s strict code of ethics, standards of practice and confidentiality guidelines.
Alongside my private practice I have experience working in a low-cost counselling service and the charity sector in both long-term therapy and short-term therapy (8 to 16 sessions), where we may focus on a particular issue someone would like to address and explore.
I work with a range of issues which include for example, anxiety, depression or sadness, bereavement, relationship breakdown, redundancy, work-related stress, sexual identity, abuse and trauma.
Working with a trained counsellor offers you a space to talk, think about and explore your difficulties. By creating a safe and confidential space in which to talk and reflect, this opens up the possibility to explore what may be causing you confusion, discomfort or pain.
It is important to find a counsellor who you feel comfortable with. I therefore offer an initial consultation where we can meet and discuss your needs and reasons for seeking help and it offers you the chance to see how I work.
If you decide to start counselling we will agree a suitable time and fee for weekly, 50 minute sessions.
I work face-to-face, online and by telephone.
